The General Theory of Eco-Social Science
The General Theory of Eco-Social Science is a pioneering piece of work. It provides a groundbreaking and comprehensive theory and recommends a wide range of societal changes for the creation of an ecological civilization.
Eco-Social Science crosses many disciplines, broadly covering biology, ecology, physiology, economics, sociology, political science, management, finance and other aspects including Chinese ancient culture. The core of its work lies within the Eco-Entity Theory.
I have introduced a new concept called an “eco-entity”, which refers to the integration of a whole space and of the interrelations and interactions among all living matter and non-living matter in a given spatial scope, through the flow of energy and the circulation of matter. Eco-Entity first can be the survival of our planet, especially the ecosystem of the earth’s surface, which is the parent of various secondary eco-entities. Human society, including states and the different levels of social organizations that follow, are the “son” eco-entities, “grandson” eco-entities and “great-grandson” eco-entities respectively, and so on, forming a plurality of levels of subsets. The human biotic body is also an eco-entity relative to the cells, organs, tissues and bacteria within or on the human body. Various eco-entities, despite myriad forms and ways of performances, have common combination rules, general operational mechanisms and laws of governing operation, which are amazingly consistent as well. Thus I was fortunate to be able to put these results of study into a complete theory.
Eco-entities theoretically change people’s perspective and our ways of thinking. When I applied it to fields such as Sociology, Political Science, Philosophy, Management, Economics and Monetary Policy, I was amazed to find that the new theories layered one upon another to quickly form the main concept of Eco-Social Science. At that point, I realized that eco-entity theory is a big leap in innovation. It combines natural and social sciences together with amalgamates faith, ethics and morality. Therefore the mysterious power of the supernatural becomes obsolete; it takes on a new interpretation. I believe that human society will continue to develop this theory and find its value in practice.
The General Theory of Eco-Social Science has a strong sense of the times. In the preface, I point out: "Human society is entering another stage of major change. Industrial civilization is ending; ecological civilization is on the horizon." There are three sections of the book which together constitute the principle and operational mechanism of the ecological civilization society and also about the direction and specific measures for current societal transition. In the Ecological Society Section, I combined historical analysis with eco-entity theory, and laid out a roadmap and proposal for comprehensive economic, political, and social reform. In the eco-economics and Eco-monetary sections, I bring up improvement measures in the form of various economic and monetary policy suggestions.
The past few decades have seen economic crises that continue to plague the world today. The gap between the rich and poor has been widened. The majority of the populace found themselves on the short end of the differentiation. This is not the sin of capital, but is the result of disorderly competition due to the poor market mechanisms. The law of the jungle controls the market economy nowadays, so it appears as a primitive state of disorderly competition. This not only caused the unequal distribution of social wealth, but also had the market lose its vitality. It has made social body tissue rigid and triggered comprehensive crisis, social and financial. A painful lesson learnt from the 2008 financial crisis shows that the toppling of giant corporations may cause a nation to collapse along with them. It is up to the government to commit public resources to bail out these guilty corporations which, instead of shutting down, kept running with bad management.
Companies, like other organisms, have their own life cycles. Individual companies are constantly born, grow, age, and die away. Through this process of the new replacing the old, the socio-economic system keeps its youth and vitality and continues its operation. This can be compared to the cells in the human body, which constantly divide and die although the organism lives on. When disorderly competition enables large corporations to form, it completely destroys the market operation mechanism and makes society lose its ability for metabolism. Suffocated by the tumors that are super large corporations, the society finds itself gasping for breath. In this regard, I propose the reform measures in the book, including the principles of “inspiration and guidance,” “orderly competition” and “overall co-balance”, Ecological Economic Growth policy and Ecological Currency policy, as well as the organic combination of relations between government and market.
The world is in the throes of childbirth before the new era. American crisis just eased, Europe and Japan are still struggling, and crises in emerging countries are recurring. Crises will continue to appear and cycle, until the birth of a new era. The implementation of comprehensive reform is the only way out of troubles for the straits we are in right now.
As for the reforms, economic reform should be the foundation which determines the political system reforms and social reforms. The political reforms will also determine social reforms in a certain way. Therefore, the order of reforms should be economic reform at first and political reform next, followed by the implementation of social reforms. The Chinese economy will enter a downturn in the next few years; now is the best window of opportunity to implement reforms within the government, followed closely by social reform. However China already has a national wide consensus of reforms; how about the United States? We are not fully alert. The Federal Reserve injected a large amount of money into circulation and the economy began to improve. Quantitative easing is no more than an IV strung to a sick patient to keep them alive. The symptoms may be temporarily gone, and the patient may feel stronger, however the United States has not solved the root of the sickness. The 17 trillion dollar debt will continue to accumulate and will eventually trigger a large monetary and financial crisis. What will the United States do then? What could they have done and implemented? Please, read my book for further insight.
Ecological civilization will appear after the agricultural and industrial civilizations in human history. It shall integrate human activity with the systems of ecological circulation in nature to seek harmonious synergy between humans and nature, humans and society, and amongst humans themselves. Ecologists in pursuit of an ecological civilization realize that the newly risen production mode is the economic basis of a society of ecological civilization, which is guided by market demand and corresponding production relations in the form of a supply network based on the market. The newly risen production mode and production relations will thoroughly change the operational mode of industrial society, which was dominated by profit orient of industrial capital.
Ecologism advocates the building of a society conforming to the natural environment and natural resources, and operating on the basis of the laws of nature. It advocates social fairness and justice on the basis of equal and free competition. It advocates social fairness and justice on the basis of equal and free competition. It advocates the realization of social governance and operation through the principle of “inspiration and guidance,” “orderly competition” and “overall co-balance”. It holds that “inspiration and guidance” can raise people’s self-consciousness and help them become self-disciplined. “Orderly competition” will preserve the vibrancy of the social organization. Stressing the interdependence between humans and the natural environment and taking the initiative in building and adjusting all kinds of equal social competitive mechanisms, will result in the “overall co-balance “of human societal operation.
Ecologism holds that the activity of human society must comply with and satisfy the responsibilities imbued in humankind by nature. Human society must understand its functions and roles in the earth eco-entity, especially in the circulatory systems of the nature eco-entity, and through self-organized orderly activities, fully perform its functions and roles in nature. Humankind should respect and protect the nature eco-entity and effectively utilize resources in the course of sustainable development and existence.
The General Theory of Eco-Social Science promises to become a theoretical wellspring of Ecologist practitioners. It is a theoretical work heralding the advent of human society to ecological civilization.
The following is an outline of the new theories introduced in this book to the field of humanities and social science:
ECO-ENTITY—An Entirely New Sociology
It lays out an all new system of ecological theory integrating the social and natural sciences. At its core is the new concept of the “eco-entity,” its roles and inner systems, its rules, operation laws and operating mechanism.
ECO-RESOURCES—New Philosophy and Management
It advances the concept of “eco-resources”, expanding to the social relations of human beings, and puts forth the new theories of the monist world outlook of eco-resources, the dichotomy between positive and negative eco-resources, and the strategic management of eco-resources, through which it reveals a new dimension to humanities and social sciences.
ECOLOGICAL SOCIETY—A Brand New Political Science
It introduces the doctrine of an “ecological society” where the rule of law is replaced by the “rule of organicism,” and explains the operating principles and governance of the future ecological society.
ECO-ECONOMICS—A New Economics
It demonstrates with flow charts the economic growth cycle. It depicts the laws of commodity value and “eco-value.” It stresses the organic inter-relations between the government and the market. The author systematically expounded the economic growth cycle, the starting point, the methods, the principles, the mechanisms and the formulas, in his eco-economy growth theory.
ECO -CURRENCY—A Complete New Theory of Currency
It creates the new theory of Eco-currency, three basic attributes of currency and three major functions of currency. The author proposes a new eco-monetary policy: management of role currencies, or a “visible hand” in adjusting the economy. In addition, he also illustrates the elements of eco-currency, a new currency, in detail.
